Using different tools in my arsenal for a fashionable purpose by re-embracing my stencil collection.

I participated in my first ever Instagram card hop this year and I am so excited about all the different card projects that I am creating and inspiration I am getting from seeing what my fellow crafters are making. I am going to be sharing some of the cards here with some information in case you feel inspired to create some cards or craft projects.

For this particular week, the goal was to use stencils. For this challenge, I decided to use a Picket Fence Studios stencil I had gotten some time ago that featured a pattern of the silhouette of a lady in a vintage dress, based on that, my card centered around an idea of fashion and then I got the idea of someone fashionably standing out.

For the stencil, I used a Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink to give it the metallic and slightly monochromatic effect. A Tim Holtz stamp in a different fashion style and aesthetic on a white background added a different feel and I came up with the sentiment and used my Cricut to write out and cut out the sentiment. To create a bit of depth and distance between the stencil and the other elements, I used a vintage style black and blue ribbon across the lower part of the stencil and then adhered the fashion image and the sentiment to that. I think it is a pretty cool looking card where I was able to use a lot of different elements and create some different texture to the card.

Pretty great reminder to use more of my stencils and mix and match all of my craft products. Are you a fan of stencils? Maybe using our stencils more often should be a goal for this crafty year?
