Boo! Making a Halloween card with a Tim Holtz Mixed Media stamp set from Joann's.

For the past few seasons Joann's has featured a all new and different Tim Holtz mixed sets for Halloween and Christmas. There were so many cute sets this year but I had some self control and limited myself to one. This one had the amazing star and bat options for the stencils and really cute stamps that were quite different from any other stamps I had so this was the winner!

Things have been so crazy that I have been looking at them for a few weeks not but I finally got a chance to work on some cardmaking last Saturday (coincidentally, it was World Cardmaking Day).

I started out with the bat stencil that had caught my eye.  Using some black soot Distress Oxide ink, that I thought would give it a dreamier look due to its properties, I used the distress stencil on a purple cardstock which reminded me a bit of the Haunted Mansion.

Then I played around with the stamps. I really liked that the designs were like stylized sketches and thought they could work for kids' cards but also as design elements for all sorts of craft projects. I stamped all three main images and ended up using the ghost for my card front and the vampire for the inside.  Put together with the stencil and a black border on a green card, I think it made for a fun card.
