Experiencing the wonderful colors at PAMM

PAMM, Perez Art Museum Miami, has been a great addition to the museum scene in Miami. Featuring immersive installations and captivating art pieces, it is a great place to go see and experience modern art. The museum seems to have an affinity for American art, featuring great pieces from the Caribbean and Latin America as well as celebrated American artists such as Bisa Butler and Kehinde Wiley, but actually showcases pieces by artists from all over the world.

During a recent visit, I saw a few great exhibits that I wanted to share about. Over the next few weeks, I will give you a quick glimpse into an exhibit because they are so cool, that you really should go check them out yourself if you have the chance.

CHROMOSATURATION

One of my favorite experiences visiting PAMM was the immersive experience of Carlos Cruz-Diez's Chromosaturation. The work consists of experiencing the changing of colors while exploring the effect of the different colors in three interconnected rooms. Intensely saturated lights create a weird feeling as you move within each space and on to the next one and then back. It is not a way we are used to seeing colors, there is a somewhat trippy element to experience and is fun to enjoy that change in color and way of seeing things. We did not expect it to be that cool before we went into the exhibit and ended up having so much fun seeing not only the color and reflections but also snapping cool pictures and seeing how the phones read the light differently as well.

It was a really fun experience to walk through and see the colors and feel how your eyes had to adjust to the changes. If you get the opportunity to visit this exhibit, I would highly recommend it.

PAMM offers Free Second Saturdays where you can get free admission to the museum. Additionally, there is usually a different theme centered around a particular art theme or piece which includes a Make-N-Take activity and participation by members of the community.
