Gotta love a good barbecue themed pun (or two) just perfect for grilling season.

I met Stephanie Barnard at a Scrapbook Expo several years ago and saw her cute Stamps of Life products and immediately signed up for the monthly stamp club. Life being life, sometimes I don't get to use a set for a long time but I am happy to have a deep well of various stamps that I can use for almost any occasion.

This is one of those stamp sets that I have had for years. When I wanted to make a card for a great friend, who is actually not a steak person but enjoys a good Chicago or Chili dog, this BBQ2stamp Clear Stamp Set came in perfectly to make her a cute and silly card that I think will make her laugh.

I used the grill, steaks, and lid images for the front along with the funny saying. Since she is not a fan of steaks unless they are well done within a few minutes of becoming shoe leather, I made sure to color them a dark brown. I stamped the images together building a scene but thought it could use a little more. So I stamped another lid and colored it in the same. I cut out the other lid and placed it above the original lid using foam tape. It was an easy way to add a little dimension. You can kind of see in the picture below. I toyed with the idea of doing the bottom of the grill too but thought it would overwhelm the other parts of the image.

For the inside I used the hot dog/sausage image stamping and cutting out a few as well as the "Franks a lot" sentiment. Gotta love a good pun!

What do you think? Should I have also made the grill pop out a bit as well?

I loved how cute this set worked out, already coming up with some ideas for this set. One idea is to use on labels to identify food for a BBQ, do you have any other ideas?

BTW: if you like this stamp set, it looks like they are retiring it soon so you may want to check out their site.
