Adding a bit of Winnie the Pooh flair.

After making a makeup bag for a friend (using materials from my upcycling project), I though it needed a little something. She is a big Winnie the Pooh fan and I thought I would add something Pooh bear inspired. Since the bag exterior is yellow, I though that something red similar to Pooh's shirt would work great.

Bags with patches are so popular now, I wondered if I could make a patch using two of my favorite materials - felt and iron-on. I went in to Cricut Design Space and found a Pooh icon that was part of a Disney collection I had purchased and then used the offset tool to create a background that was slightly larger than the icon which would create a base and a border for the icon.

For the other side, I thought a call out to Pooh's favorite snack would be ideal. Using a font that is included as part of Design Space I wrote out the word Hunny and used the offset feature to create a background to be cut out in felt. It was easy to cut the felt, the iron-on weeding was really fast and it took less than a minute to iron on. I sewed on the patches by hand - which was the hardest part of the patch project but otherwise it was relativity quick and easy. I actually wonder if you could use fabric glue (or a similar adhesive) to make this even easier to do. I might go get some fabric glue this weekend and try on another project.

While these are not the same as those embroidered or embellished patches that are big now - the effect of these simple patches are still adorable and super easy to make with the Cricut Maker. What kind of patches do you think would be good to make next?
