Trying out some new tricks with old tools - Sizzix Big Kick

As an avid collector of craft supplies and tools, it has happened more than once where I find that after many years of owning something I will have an "aha" moment realizing some cool thing that one of my craft supplies is capable of which I had never tried before...

Today's example of an aha moment - my Sizzix Big Kick.

My Big Kick is at least 10 years old and practically a relic in the world of crafting, it has beautifully churned out hundreds of die cut shapes, letters, card bases, and whatever other paper project I have asked it to do. but it had never been used to cut anything thicker than average cardstock...until now.

Cutting Cardboard: Especially since the pandemic I have started to order many more things online but I feel guilty about all the packaging. I recycle most of the boxes, but thought that perhaps I may be able to reuse and repurpose some of them as well. Cardboard dividers from a package, which are thinner and denser than an outside box, were able to be cleanly cut using a thin metal die. I am so impressed, the cardboard is about 2x the thickness of the die and it worked perfectly!

Looking forward to making some projects with my new found cardboard die cuting knowledge! Have you ever used your die-cutting machine for thicker materials like cardboard? What else have you tried to cut with your die cutting machine? Is there anything that you recommend I try?

Wishing you a creative day!
