Quickly making a cute card for a cute girl thanks to some earlier creativity - Lesson learned from one of the legends of making.

Sometimes there are people who can quickly see things and make decisions and put things together and create amazing things in no time - then there are other people that take forever. What kind of crafter are you? I am usually in that second group.

Well fellow slow-poke crafters (or even super speedy crafters) here is an example of how you can speed up your cardmaking using a tip from one of the legends of making, Tim Holtz. During many of the live demonstrations that he graciously shares on YouTube, he shares the value of just playing and creating for the sake of creating sometimes. Whether it is to play with new products, new techniques, or even work through a creative slump, playing with your materials is a fun and smart way to get a little crafting in.

Inspired by him and some great purchases, I stamped several images from a really cute Kingston Crafts stamp set and had them ready to go to be colored in. On another day, I played combining inks, sprays, and stains from Tim Holtz Distress colors and created cool backgrounds. So, when the time came up to make a card, I looked through some of my stash and had the three main elements ready to go.

Putting together the two background pieces and the image of the girl, I looked through through my supplies for the perfect sentiment and some other elements (the oval scalloped frame behind her and the flowers) and quickly got everything together for the card. I can't even imagine how long it would have taken to get the different textures in the background and wait for everything to dry...so having some materials ready ahead of time was definitely a crafting win!

If you get the chance, try it some time. Just play with your materials to create and have fun and then save your creations for a future use. It can make it easier to put a future project together and quickly make something to make someone smile.
